Unknowability of Brahman

The Upanishads glorify Brahman as Ajaro Amaro Avyayah. Brahman is unborn, undecaying, undying, immortal and changeless (Ajam, Ajaram, Amritam, Abhayam).

Taittariya Upanishad says satyam jnanam anantam brahma (truth, knowledge and infinity). Satyam means "that which never changes". Anantam means "infinity." The Jnanam in cosmic sense is not the worldly knowledge. It is the cosmic energy that removes ignorance like how sunlight removes darkness. The cosmic jnanam is energy itself that destroys the inertia. Anantam means infinity. It also stands for bliss or Ananda. when we are unhappy or dull or in a boring mood, it is really difficult to pass time. But we forget about time when we are in a blissful state.

Brahman is Aprameya (Vishnu Sahasranamam 46), beyond any definition. It can never be known through sense organs or intellect. Sense organas are easily caught by maya, thus misleading us from taking the correct path towards realization. Yoga helps one to conquer the senses and ultimately the mind, thereby bringing the Self closer to brahman. The fire of transcendental knowledge is the realization that this material world is an illusion or universe is unreal just like a dream. Such a jnana burns away the desire to have powers and opulences for self. In the dream, there are several characters and upon waking up all these characters dissolve into You. Similarly upon self-realization, all of creation of Brahma merges back into self (atma). There is no separation between them.

The 20th verse of Adi Sankaracharya's Viveka Chudamani says

Brahma satyam – Infinite consciousness is unchanging
Jagat mitya – The finite universe is a relative appearance.
Jeevah brahma eva na aparah – The same Brahman is the essense of all living beings. No difference between Brahman and individual self. Brahman remains as a viewer or Sakshi (Vishnu Sahasranamam 15) in all beings, not affected by any thing that happens in the illusionary world.

Everything that exists is made of different forms of Brahman that is present in every atom of creation. Pots, statues comes out of the root object clay. The seperation that we see is an illusion or maya. Our physical body is made of Panchabhutas. Darkness has no existence on its own it is just the temporary condition of non availability of light. Similarly ignorance about brahman within you is also a temporary condition created due to the clouds of illusion (maya) covering the truth.

Like a robot misguided by wrong sensor data, we are often misled by the 24 Tatwas shielding our atma. According to Samkhya darsana, the mind and all its experiences is based on 24 principles (Tatwas). All beings having a body (deha dhari) are constituted of these 24 tattvas only.

This entire jagat, constituted of pancha-bhutas, keeps on changing (Kshara). That which is different from Kshara is Akshara. Among the 24 tattvas related to Kshara, Mahat was created before all others. The ten indriyas (jnanendriyas and karmendriyas) and manas, Mahat, ahankar, buddhi, pancha-bhutas, pancha-tanmatras (the subtle elements), these 24 tattvas exist for all living beings.

The kala chakra (wheel of time) keeps revolving incessantly. This kala chakra is made of 24 tattvas starting from mahat tattva to gross pancha bhutas. It is the necessary cause for the bondage of the world. It is enveloped in ageing and grief. It is the birth place for diseases and adversities. It keeps moving according to time and space (desh and kal). Kala chakra does not exist in Laya state (during the night of Brahma)
